This Southern Flying Dutchman Heads North
Now I can totally feel good about commenting on the Bee Blog again! April and May swept by me in a flurry of work with not much creative time. Then there was the issue of locating Amy's envelope under a mountain of mail! Success, though, last week when I made a final push through my office and opened, read, filed, and shred every last piece of paper in here. Exhausting! But my husband and accountant are happy. Nothing like necessary numbers required for a child's FAFSA form for proper delegation of college funds to light a fire under one's feet!
After this block and the previous one for Victoria, I really enjoy making the flying geese. I haven't found perfection in my seams, though. I mark out the 1/4", but still there are quirks. This block came out the proper dimensions, so not too bad. However, I meant to line up the geese the opposite way so the dark colors would form the pinwheel. There was no going back, though!

Autumn's Christmas block
I re-did this block three times. Death-defyingly wonky in the first attempts. Scant seam allowances way too close to the edges and so on. But I had one that I put into the envelope and taped shut. A day later, I ripped the envelope open and spent a good bit of time with the seam ripper on the front porch.
Ahhh, that's better. Hopefully there are no swear-word-inducing angles to this one. :-)

Christmas on the first day of Summer
June 21 may be the first day of summer, but it was the day I sent Autumn's Christmas quilt block off to her in the mail...

Getting Ready
I'm getting my July packages ready to go out... I'm going to see three of you gals in person this weekend, so I thought I should take advantage of that! My block involves paper-piecing, but I'm giving you the freedom to make it another way if you so choose....
Here's a little sneak peek!!Don't want to give away too much... There's some Amy Butler "love" and Kaffe Fassett goodness headed your way!
Angela, welcome back to the mainland~I hope all that fun stuff in your mailbox is making the transition easier on you...

Pics, pics, pics...
This was sent out a while ago, but I never posted the pic for all to see. I loved making this block.
The June packages will be sent out tomorrow morning...included are various Holiday prints. Happy Half-Holiday, ladies! Please create a wonky log cabin, using your whimsical side. Have fun with it.....no RULES, just play, play, play. This is my kind of quilting. I hope you enjoy!

Bright Geese for Amy
Completed this just under the wire on May 31st, and I'm sure Amy has already received it, but I finally got around to downloading photos....I actually made this block twice. I followed directions the first time, but sewing on an unfamiliar machine, my seam allowances were off, and the block came out TOO BIG! Never had that happen before. It is now a very accurate 12.5" block.
Thanks for the fun of working with geese and solids, Amy!
