red cross quilt

for april i'd love for you to make a red cross block. the blocks in the picture were made by me and my common threads buddies. i hope you don't mind adding to this quilt. the blocks should be 6.5". feel free to make one or more than one block.

your package will go out in the next couple of days. you will be receiving some muslin, some kona bone, red and a few black scraps. feel free to use your own fabric as long as it's red.

the crosses can float in the background or extend to the edges of the block. you can combine fabrics or have the cross be one fabric. don't feel like you need to keep the background fabric consistent. change it up within the block. i want the quilt to have dimension and that's a good way to do that. i prefer kind of skinny crosses, but improvise the shape however you want to...as long as it reads as cross it'll be great. i love the curvy, improv feel of the crosses in the inspiration quilt.

the crosses can be centered in the block or not...whatever is fine with me. i only want touches of black in the quilt, so try to stay with primarily red.

any questions, let me know. now i need to get to the post office!

Fun Geese

All those fun geese are flying your way Victoria!  I can't believe you've made 8 - plus all the cutting that went into ours and yours.   It will be awesome to see the results of all the work!

Liz: March

Holy frijoles, Victoria! I can't believe you've made EIGHT of these! It's a heck of a block, so many tiny pieces!

March Block for Victoria

The geese did not go as smoothly as I would like, so the block doesn't lie perfectly flat. I hope it works for your quilt (which is going to be incredible with all of these blocks together, wowza!). I'll put it in the mail today or tomorrow.

another one

here is another bright and colorful block ! i might have to try this pattern sometime. looks like LOTS and LOTS of cutting though!!! thanks for cutting the blocks for us!!!! :) enjoy!

Geese Galore!

I love flying geese, but, Victoria, I have to admit...your's nearly drove me crazy! Maybe it was not knowing the exact finished size, maybe it was not having cut the pieces out myself, maybe it was just my frame of mind the day I decided to piece them, but lordy, those little units threw me for a loop! It looks good now, but you will see when you get the block there was some "unsewing" and "re-sewing" that had to take place to get it as square as it is, which I still feel is less than my usual caliber of work.

Looking forward to getting Jacquie's April package!

here they come

Hey All!
Just checking in to see how it's going for everyone, I've gotten two of the blocks already and I have made a whole bunch myself...

Please let me know if you have any questions...
basic info:
1/4" seam to join them, as I wrote out, will give you the right size block.
I did send extras of the geese pieces,
(if you have problems with your geese... It took my a few times to get them right...)

Also the (6per side) geese go counter clockwise around the square, just as you see them on the above blocks...

Gosh I just love them... thanks ladies!
